I just rented Let Me In from Netflix on blu-ray and was underwhelmed. I saw the original Swedish film Let the Right One In two years ago and couldn’t help but comparing it to that. I think the novelty of the original is what made it a unique experience. This English language remake just felt like a weak copy.
Picked up The Visitor (1979) from the good people at Code Red. Amazing stuff. Recommended to all. http://thatwhichshouldnotbemeasured.blogspot.com/2011/02/visitor-1979.html
I just finished reading Dean Koontz's Watchers novel and frickin' loved it, so I watched the movie adaptation to compare the two. Then I blogged about it at http://www.morbidementia.com/horror-movies/watchers-the-book-vs-the-movie.htm.
This was really fun, I might have to do this again sometime. Unfortunately, most of the books on deck for me have NOT been made into movies, so it might be a while before I get a chance...
I still haven't seen Orca, I'll have to do that soon. And hey, there's an Orca novel! Hmmmm...
I just watched Highlander the other day and posted a review on my blog-thingy. Its not really horror but then again I'm not really a writer. I just play one on the internet.
Actually this is a post about a film I was going to watch but then BAM!!... some dusty old fool on my country's film censorship board decided to ban it!! The film was Eben McGarr's Sick Girl (2007). Just wondering if anyone here has seen it. Maybe the dusty ol' fool did me a favor... though I do (most days) enjoy thinking for myself.
SICK GIRL (2007) is available to rent through Netflix: http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Sick_Girl/70123357?trkid=2361637
As for me, I watched AAAH! ZOMBIES!! (2007) last night. It was entertaining but around the 60 minute mark the pace slowed considerably and the last 30-ish minutes weren't as much fun. Rated it an overall 3 out of 5 stars.
Just saw Orca: The Killer Whale for the first time. What an amazing bad movie. Loved every minute of it.
ReplyDeleteHow does a whale light an entire town on fire?
Well, it depends if you call The Rite, horror. But I thought Anthony Hopkins was great in the movie. Scared me!

ReplyDeleteRecently read Sarah Court by Craig Davidson. A great novel with a quiet thread of horror running through it.
ReplyDeleteAs for movies, I saw Buried a few weeks ago. A lot better than I initially thought it would be.
The best part about Orca is Ennio Morricone's music.
ReplyDeleteJust watched Cabin Fever 2 and was satisfied: http://www.backonlinebackonduty.com/2011/02/cabin-fever-2-spring-fever-2009.html
Waiting for Burke and Hare to get here.
I just watched Poltergeist for the first time since it came out; dated, but still pretty good.

ReplyDeleteJust watched Burke and Hare last night, which was great, and about to go and see Drive Angry 3D in a couple of hours.
