The HBA Takes an Undead Walk to See Saw 3D!
Hey hey, stabers! Today is the day where we all get one last, well, maybe last, Saw film, and this time around, it's in 3D! The Saw franchise is arguably the biggest current franchise of the current era of horror, but how will this newest installment play out for the members of the HBA? Leave a comment below with a link to your review, and we will add it for all the other members to check out!

Now, even if it isn't technically a movie, the highly anticipated zombie series, The Walking Dead, is stumbling its way onto screens on Halloween night. I'm sure that more than a few horror writers will be sharing their thoughts on their respective sites, so be sure to share your thoughts with all of us!

The HBA Takes A Stab At: Paranormal Activity 2!

Another week and another film for the HBA to take a stab at, and this time it comes in the form of Paranormal Activity 2, the sequel to the mega successful surprise hit of last year. I think most horror fans shared a collective sigh when they heard that there would be a sequel to Paranormal Activity, let alone a sequel that would be rushed into theaters less than a year later, but the reviews I have glanced over have been surprisingly very good. However, it is not the opinion of mainstream websites and news sources that I trust nearly as much as the one of my fellow horror fans, the ones that don't get paid for their opinions but do it out of passion. So carry forth my dear HABer, stab away and let us know YOUR verdict (by leaving a link to your review in the comments section below, naturally)!

The HBA Spits On: My Soul to Take While Being Buried!
The second weekend in October brings us even more horror for the HBA to take a stab at, and the first film on slate is Wes Craven's latest, My Soul to Take. The whole 3D thing is a bit of a turn off, but Craven has a way of sticking around for a very long time so maybe he cane keep with tradition with this one. I really look forward to people's thoughts on this film.
Dinner With Max Jenke: My Soul Train Wreck To Take
Being Buried alive is a tough situation for sure (well, not that I actually know, but bear with me here) but not nearly as tough as making a film in one setting can be. Does Ryan Reynolds have what it takes to have an entire film rest on his shoulders, and can Buried stay interesting enough for a feature length runtime? I look to you, dear HBAer, to let us all know the truth.
Last up we have the second unrated release in as many weeks and a lot has happened since the release and eventual removal of Hatchet 2 from theaters. I gotta wonder how things will pan out for the I Spit On Your Grave remake as it is still slated to be released in a few select AMC theaters, so if you are lucky enough to have it playing near you, please, let us all know your thoughts!
The HBA Takes A Hatchet to: Case 39 & Let Me In!
One of the most talked about horror films of the year has been the pseudo-remake of Let Me In, with many lashing out at the prospect of a basterdized cash-in of the beloved Swedish vampire film. However, with a handful of great clips and trailers, the film has started to turn the negative hate into positive hope that this might be a pretty good film. We'll see what you all have to say about it.

Another film that is making its way into theaters this weekend is Case 39, a movie that I would never even remotely care about personally, which is only cemented by the presence of Renee Zellweger. Still, as much as I don't want to care about this film, director Christian Alvart made a fantastic little sci-fi/horror gem with 2009's Pandorum, and I have heard great things about his previous film Antibodies, so I cannot simply brush this film off all that easy. I'll be very curious to read what the HBAers have to say about this one.

Dr Blood's Video Vault: Case 39 (2009)
Last but certainly not least is Hatchet 2, which, due to its lack of rating, is only playing in AMC theaters. Adam Green has gone against the grain, and the MPAA, by keeping his movie as bloody as he intended, thus, keeping it out of a ton of theaters, so I really hope that people that have the chance to see this one do, just based on principal. It's kind of a big deal.

The HBA Takes A Stab At: Devil!
It has become apparent that the summer certainly belongs to horror, and here we are once again with another theatrical release that is straight reppin' the genre we all love dearly. This weekend we get a film from the mind of M. Night Shyamalan, who promises to be giving us a one way ride to the bottom floor with, Devil. I'm not sure if the horror community is clamouring for this one, but I think it could certainly be interesting. Will Devil be the road back to healing after the last few awful films that have come out of the Shyamalan camp? I'm counting on YOU for the answer, so if and when you see and do a write up for the film, leave a comment and the link to the review below and we can add her up for all to see.

The HBA Takes A Stab At: Resident Evil: Afterlife!
And here we are again with yet another weekend genre release, but this time around it is not a remake, it's not a shaky cam film nor is it even a movie influenced by a trailer. Instead, we get a sequel. I of course am talking about the latest installment in the successful Resident Evil series, Resident Evil: Afterlife. It's kind of funny that this one should come out just after we had a random question concerning franchises that people dislike, and it's even more funny that no one had even mentioned the RE series as it is one that certainly divides the general horror census. Personally, I find the series to be pure B-Movie fun, but will I think the same about this newest 3D edition?! Better yet, who cares what I think, let's hear your thoughts on this fourth installment, shall we? Watch the film, write the review and send it in to horrorbloggeralliance (@) hotmail (.) com or leave it in the comments down below and we will all dance a dance of true happiness afterwards.

The HBA Takes A 'Stab' At: Machete!
It would certainly appear that the end of the 2010 summer is reserved for genre pictures, but I ain't complaining, no sirre. You guys all know the drill by now…watch the movie, write your thoughts on the internet then send that ish our way so we can share it with the rest of the alliance. Leave it in the comments section below or send it in to horrorbloggeralliance (@) hotmail (.) com and it will be added as soon as I finish with my pedicure. We had a great turn out for the last few of these, so I want to thank everyone that has sent them in. The HBA Takes A Stab At: The Last Exorcism!
Gotta love doing one of these two weeks in a row! While the box office was simply poor for Piranha 3D, the reviews were all mostly positive from both fans and critics, something that is still a bit of a win I suppose. Early word on the street has been mixed for The Last Exorcism, but mixed is better than bad, and I would gather that at least half of you would enjoy it. Now, exactly who does and doesn't enjoy it must and will be shared with us all here at the HBA, by simply writing up a review at your site and sending it in for us to publish right here. If you want to play ball, simply leave a comment below with a link to the review, or, send said link in to our email at horrorbloggeralliance (@) hotmail (.) com. The HBA Takes A Stab At: Piranha 3D!
Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the movies, this Friday brings us the long awaited release of Alexandre Aja's Piranha 3D. It seems like it's been forever since this remake was first announced, in fact, this three dimensional film was in the works before said dimension would become the hottest thing since chipotle. With the campy aspect being a difficult one to pull off, I am quite eager to see how fans react to this one…I can only imagine the average moviegoer is going to think "it's sooo stoopid!," but who cares about what they think, right?! Right! Now, if YOU want to share your opinion with the rest of the awesome members of the HBA, just drop us an email at horrorbloggeralliance (@) hotmail (.) com, or leave us a comment below with a link to your review, and we will be sure to post it here for everyone to see!

The HBA Takes A Stab At: Predators!
Unless you have been living in the jungle, covered in mud with only the whites of your eyes showing, there is a new movie coming out this weekend that is sure to get a few horror fans up and out to the theaters. Of course I am talking about Predators! This is one of the biggest and most promising theatrical genre release this year, and to see the dreaded hunter make it back to screens in its own film is exciting, only made better with the the whole plural thing. You know the deal, if you see Predators and write a review, leave a link in the comments section, or send it in to horrorbloggeralliance @ hotmail.com, and we will post the link hear for all the HBA members to see.

The HBA Takes A Stab At: Jonah Hex!
Hey kiddies! Jonah Hex makes his way down a dusty path to the big screen this Friday, and even though it isn't necessarily a horror film, it's close enough. There is violence, revenge, and even some supernatural elements, so why not give the HBA a chance to take a stab at it? Send in your links to horrorbloggeralliance@hotmail.com, or if you are just too busy for all that, then leave a comment and we shall add your link for all to see. Unfortunately, we didn't get very many links sent in for Splice, and I know a lot of you saw it, so send them in people so we can all read them! If not, I'll hold my breath until you do. The HBA Takes A Stab At: Survival of the Dead!
We got another movie for the fine members of the HBA to take a stab at and this time around it comes from one George A. Romero with his newest zombie film, Survival of the Dead! This one doesn't see a theatrical release until May 5th, but this Friday (4-30-10) the film is going to be made available on VOD through cable providers, XBOX Live, Amazon, etc… I'm sure most Romero fans interested in the movie will jump on this one in the comfort of their own home and like the new Nightmare remake, Survival will certainly be a big focus of discussion for all of us eager horror fans. See the movie, send in your review (horrorbloggeralliance@hotmail.com), and we will post it right here for every one to see!
The HBA Takes A Stab At: A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010!
It's been a while since there has been any theatrical horror releases, unfortunately, but one of the biggest of the year is set to be judged heavily this coming Friday! I am of course speaking of the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, a film that is sure to spark many a conversation in the following weeks. As per usual, if you see and write up a review for the newest entry in the Nightmare series, please feel free to send us a link, along with the title of the review to the email (horrorbloggeralliance@hotmail.com), or leave that info in the comments below! The Guide to Hottest in Theatrical Horror!
Anytime I see a film, especially a new one, I often sit my perfectly formed fanny right here at my computer and search the interwebs to see what other’s think about the movie. What places do I look to first? All of the horror blogs that I already follow, written by people that I know and trust. It’s those opinions I like to read and no matter how many blog reviews of The Wolfman are out there, each one of use has our own view and opinion that garner a worthwhile read. So what I would like to see, is every new major theatrical horror release that comes out, whomever sees and reviews the movie on their blog, can send in the link, and we will have one post linking to each individual review, all in one tidy little place. Even if you don’t see and review the movie until a week later, send it in and we’ll include it by updating and republishing the post. This will make for a one stop shop for all of our opinions on whatever hot new horror flick is out there to digest. This is also certainly something that can extend to major DVD releases if the movie has a lot of hype behind it, something like a Trick ‘r Treat, for example.
So the next big horror release is this coming Friday (2-19) with Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island, which I think many of us have high hopes for as well as hoping it delivers as much horror as has been promised. Or should I say, promoted? Either way, if you see and review Shutter Island on your blog, send in the link to the review, as well as the title of the post to horrorbloggeralliance@hotmail.com and as soon as a few reviews come in, we can put it up, hopefully on the films release date, which would be ideal. It’s a great way to spread the word about your review and an easy way to see what other awesome bloggers have reviewed the latest that horror has to offer! Any ideas, concerns, etc…please, let us know!
